It is back to class Saturday, September 20 for a program on Feathers & Fluff - Discovering Clues to Identifying Birds in Different Life Stages.
Join Kathe Anderson for late afternoon birding at Besh-Ba-Gowah Archaeological Park and a 60 minute class Saturday evening, plus a complimentary Sunday morning field trip to the riparian areas of Roosevelt Lake and Upper Salt River.
Feathers come in most every hue imaginable and play a variety of roles in the life of a bird. The class will focus on how maturing, mating and molting affect the feathers and appearances of birds. Kathe will also share interesting facts about marvelous feathers.
Kathe is a Scottsdale resident who leads popular guided bird walks at the Gilbert Riparian Preserve, Boyce Thompson Arboretum, Hassayampa River Preserve and for Maricopa Audubon Society. Double occupancy rooms at Noftsger Hill Inn range from $90 - $125 plus tax, including breakfast. 20% discount for second consecutive night booking for this special event. Additional per person fee of $40 for the Saturday birding and class.
The birder weekends were arranged thanks to attention focused on the Pinal Mountain range by Arizona Republic columnist Jim Burns. The author of - North American Owls & his latest, Arizona Birds - highlights 7,800 foot Pinal Peak among his top five birding spots close to the Phoenix area.
